Putin: The decisions I have taken in Syria are in the interest of Russia, not the interests of the Syrian people

Russian President Vladimir Putin said yesterday, Thursday, that the decision he takes on the Syrian file serves Russian interests, not the interests of the Syrian people, in light of Moscow’s endeavor to dominate all vital sectors of the Syrian economy.

In an interview published in a documentary on the “Russia-1” channel, Putin stressed that “when making decisions of this kind, I mean now not my (surprise) flight, of course, but decisions related to the Syrian track, I start primarily from the interests of the Russian state. Not from my feelings of sympathy or hatred. ”

And the media of the Assad regime and Russia continued to say that the Russian intervention in Syria came “in response to the call of the Syrian people and to save them from what they call terrorism.”

The head of the regime, Bashar al-Assad, had asked Russia to intervene militarily on the side of his regime, after it had lost control of most of the country.

After that, the Assad regime granted vital military and economic privileges in favor of its Russian ally, in exchange for Russian military intervention against the rebellious areas.
