The Associated Press: The United States and three countries will hold major maneuvers in the Middle East

The US Navy said it will hold major naval exercises alongside Belgium, France and Japan in the Middle East, amid tensions over Iran’s nuclear program in the region.

The Associated Press stated in a report that the exercises will take place in the Arabian Sea and Gulf of Oman, with ships from the four countries participating.

The ships involved include the French aircraft carrier “Charles de Gaulle”, as well as the American amphibious attack ship “USS McCain Island”The frigate will also participate.

Belgian “HNLMS Leopold I” and the Japanese destroyer JS “Ariake”, in addition to aircraft from the four countries.
The manevures come as Iran abandoned all restrictions on its 2015 nuclear deal with world powers, following President Donald Trump’s 2018 decision to unilaterally withdraw from that deal.

There was no immediate response from Iran to the upcoming naval exercises.
