As of today, Thursday, the number of Coronavirus infections throughout the Syrian regions has approached the threshold of 60,000, after more than 300 new infections were recorded.

In the areas of the Assad regime, the Ministry of Health announced the registration of 151 new infections, which brought the total to 21,584 cases, distributed over several governorates, most notably Lattakia, Damascus and its countryside, and Aleppo.

And the health of the Assad regime announced the registration of 15 new deaths, bringing the total number to 1,483 deaths, while the number of recoveries reached 15,216 after 128 new recoveries were recorded.

And in the areas controlled by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, where 155 injuries and 8 deaths were recorded, bringing the total number of injuries to 14,436, of which 477 died, while 1,476 were cured.

Moving to northwestern Syria, where the Epidemiological Surveillance Laboratory of the Support Coordination Unit announced the registration of 21 new cases of corona, which brought the total to 21,739, of which 641 cases died, and 19,800 were cured.

Yesterday, Wednesday, the Minister of Health in the Interim Government, Dr. Maram Al-Sheikh, confirmed that the first batch of the anti-virus vaccine had arrived in northwestern Syria, adding that the vaccination operations would start from the beginning of next May.

And the World Health Organization had previously announced in late March that vaccination against the Corona virus would begin in northwestern Syria, including the city of Idlib, starting from April, expressing its hope to vaccinate 20 percent of the Syrian population by the end of this year.
The medical sector in northwestern Syria suffers from a lack of capabilities and equipment as a result of the destruction of dozens of hospitals and medical points, as a result of the military escalation of the Assad regime and its allies.
