Civil Defense documents the killing and wounding of more than 12,000 civilians in Russian attacks in Syria

The Syrian Civil Defense Organization (White Helmets) has documented the killing and wounding of more than 12,000 civilians in Russian attacks in Syria since the start of its military intervention on the side of the Assad regime in September 2015.

The organization said in a statement, in response to Russia’s celebration at the Hmeimim base in Latakia, on the birthday of its air force: “The attacks of Russian aircraft in Syria targeted more than 70 hospitals, more than 60 schools, and about 30 camps, in addition to 60attackstargeting civil defense centers, andthousands Attacks on civilian homes.”

She added: “Russia, whose planes have always bombed Syrians, expelled them, destroyed their hospitals, schools, and markets, and made the bodies of children a target. Today, the Hmeimim base in Latakia celebrates the birthday of its air force, and describes its pilots, who have carried out more than 100,000 sorties, as eager for peace in Syria.”
.
She pointed out that “the Russian holocaust against civilians in Syria, with the aim of supporting the Assad regime, continues as long as the international community turns a blind eye to the crimes.”
And it considered that “what Russia has done over the years of killing civilians, destroying infrastructure and bombing hospitals, schools and markets are war crimes and crimes against humanity.”
Since its first intervention in 2015, Russia has killed 6,859 civilians, including 2,055 children and 969 women, and targeted 1,217 vital centers, including schools, markets, and medical facilities, according to the latest report issued by the Syrian Network for Human Rights last September.
