After seven children killed and two injured in the past week alone, the United Nations condemns the bombing of Idlib Governorate

The United Nations (UNICEF) condemned the death of seven children, as a result of artillery shelling by the Assad regime forces, which targeted civilian homes in Idlib countryside, last week, calling on all parties to stop the attacks targeting children.

A statement by the organization quoted the UNICEF Deputy Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, today, Sunday: ““Child causalities continue to increase with the escalation of violence in northwest Syria.”

“On Friday, four children from the same family were killed while they were asleep in their home in Idlib governorate. In another attack, two siblings were injured in western Aleppo.

“Last Thursday, three brothers were killed with their mother when their house in Idlib came under attack.

“Since the beginning of July, at least 54 children were killed or injured in Syria, most casualties are in the north.

“Children should never pay the price for the wars of adults. UNICEF calls on all parties to the conflict in Syria to stop attacks on children and protect children at all times.

“Generations of children in Syria are growing up knowing nothing but war. Living in safety is the least children deserve wherever they are including Syria.”

The forces of the Assad regime and Russia continue to escalate the military escalation in northwestern Syria, despite the fact that the area is part of the ceasefire agreement. The Civil Defense indicated that since the start of the Assad regime’s escalation in northwestern Syria, its teams responded to more than 427 attacks by the regime and the Russians, which caused the death of more than 101 civilians, including 32 children, 18 women and civil defense volunteers.
