An upcoming Israeli-Russian meeting to discuss the developments in Syria

The Israeli newspaper, Haaretz, quoted unnamed sources as saying that Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid will go to Moscow next Wednesday to meet with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, to discuss the developments in Syria and the region.

According to the newspaper, the visit aims to discuss strategic, security and political issues, in light of reports that Russia has expressed its opposition to the new strikes launched by Israel in Syria recently.

The newspaper revealed that the visit comes as a prelude to Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett’s scheduled visit to Moscow next month, where he will hold a summit meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

On September 3, Israeli warplanes launched air strikes on sites belonging to the Assad regime and Iranian militias in the capital, Damascus, focused on the Scientific Research Center in Jamraya and the 91st Brigade.
