Washington supports all means to deliver aid to Syria

Deputy Permanent Representative of the United States to the United Nations, Jeffrey DeLaurentis, said: “We in Washington support all possibilities for the delivery of humanitarian aid to Syria, including through the Bab al-Hawa port on the border with Turkey.”

This came during a session of the UN Security Council yesterday, Wednesday, during which he stressed the need to continue delivering humanitarian aid to northern Syria.

De Laurentiis added, “We are committed to increasing aid through the mechanism of aid transfer across the border, and across the lines of contact as well,” noting that the United States supports all possibilities to transfer aid to the Syrians who need it.

The UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Martin Griffiths, confirmed that “the cross-border humanitarian operations conducted from Turkey remain the most efficient and predictable way to reach millions of people in need in Syria.”

The UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Martin Griffiths, warned that Syria is still “stuck in a spiral of rapid deterioration”, which makes it “a place of tragedy, as long as the conflict continues.”
