100 members of their families… an important decision regarding Syrian refugees in Germany

The German Interior Ministry approved a decision allowing Syrian refugees in Bremen to bring members of their families, even if they were their indirect relatives.

German media said: “The Ministry of the Interior approved a decision allowing Syrian refugees in Bremen to bring up to 100 members of their families, as of next Monday, the twelfth of this month.”

The German Media added, “This decision is linked to the refugees’ ability to prove the ability to secure the livelihood of those who bring them for a period of no less than 5 years.”

According to the decision, a refugee wishing to bring his family members must submit an application to the Immigration Office in Bremen or the Citizen Registration Office in Bremerhaven, and provide proof that he is able to cover the living costs of his relatives for a period of at least five years.

After approval and verification of the person by the immigration authorities and the diplomatic mission of Germany in the country of residence in question, “a preliminary residence permit can be issued for a period of two years,” it was reported.

Late last year, the German Interior Ministry announced that the ban on deportations to Syria would not be renewed, and the decision was taken at a virtual meeting of the country’s 16 interior ministers, who rejected party calls to extend the procedure.

The ban that we are talking about has been in effect since 2012, a year after the outbreak of the revolution in Syria, and stipulates not to deport any Syrian to his country, regardless of his political or security situation, but now it has become possible to deport Syrians who pose a threat to the Germans.
