The World Health Organization welcomes the decision of the Security Council to support the fair availability of Corona vaccines

The World Health Organization has praised the countries’ Security Council resolution, which was adopted unanimously, on the fair availability of Corona vaccines in conflict areas around the world.

The decision asked developed countries to donate Covid-19 vaccine doses to low and middle-income countries through the Kovacs facility concerned with the equitable provision of vaccines.

In his regular press conference, Dr.
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization, is pleased with the adoption of this decision, noting that it is not possible to eliminate Covid-19 without equitable distribution.

“Our world will not recover quickly enough without fair distribution,” he said.
Sharing the vaccine is, in fact, the best way to return to normal life and livelihoods.
The Security Council resolution calls for strengthening national and multilateral approaches and international cooperation, in order to facilitate equitable and affordable access to COVID-19 vaccines in situations of armed conflict, post-conflict situations and complex humanitarian emergencies, and stresses the need for international partnerships to expand manufacturing and distribution capabilities.
