Linda Greenfield: The United States is working to open crossings in Syria to deliver aid to the displaced

The United States will work to open crossings in Syria to deliver humanitarian aid to the displaced, Linda Greenfield, a candidate for Washington’s ambassador to the United Nations, said Thursday.

In a press statement to the media, Greenfield confirmed that “America will work to open roads and crossings in Syria to deliver relief to the needy in displacement camps.”

America’s representative to the United Nations, Kelly Craft, asked the international community earlier to maintain Bab Al-Hawa crossing in order to deliver humanitarian aid to the Syrian civilians affected by the war.

Kraft confirmed that the presidential elections in Syria, which Bashar al-Assad intends to run, are illegal and will not be recognized by the United States.

It is noteworthy that both Russia and China had failed earlier in a draft resolution submitted by Germany and Belgium to the UN Security Council to extend the mechanism for the delivery of aid to Syria through the Bab al-Hawa and Bab al-Salameh crossings, as these aid remained to enter only through Bab al-Hawa.
