The International Monetary Fund supports Syria with 390 million dollars to confront the Corona virus

The United Nations Economic and Social Committee (ESCO) confirmed that it will provide an amount of 390 million dollars to Syria, through the International Monetary Fund.

This came after a study published by “ESCO” entitled “Special Drawing Rights and the Arab Countries: Financing Development in the Era of Covid-19 and Beyond.”

She declared, “This unprecedented financing opportunity calls for the adoption of new approaches by governments to maximize benefit from it.”

The study said: “The International Monetary Fund provides support for recovery from the Corona pandemic, and to enhance immunity to shocks.”

According to the International Monetary Fund, the Arab region’s share of the IMF’s Special Drawing Rights amounted to $37.3 billion out of a total of $650 billion.

Corona virus infections are accelerating in most parts of the Arab world and Syria, after the start of the second wave, which the World Health Organization considered to be the fastest spreading and most dangerous.
